Karen Jo is part of a team that co-wrote and co-edited the first draft of an unpublished curriculum: Montgomery County Public Schools Information and Communication Technology for grade 6, June through August, 2007.

Karen Jo's feature article, "Cultivating Architects," about teaching CAD in an MCPS Enriched and Innovative Instruction summer program for 4th through 8th graders, Discoveries, appeared in the February issue of School Arts, 1998.

Karen Jo's feature article, "Digital Scenery," about teaching digital landscape painting in an 8th grade, Digital Art class, appeared in the January issue of School Arts, 1996.

Karen Jo was part of a team that co-wrote and co-edited the first computer applications curriculum for middle school in MCPS. It was published as a CD, MCPS MS Computer Applications 2.0 Curriculum, July, 1999.


At their fall conference in 1995, the Mid-Atlantic Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators honored Karen Jo with an award for Second Place in their fiction contest for her unpublished, young adult fantasy, Naomi's Gift. Below is an excerpt of the story's beginning.

"At least once in life heaven gives each creature a clear view of the universe. In that instant, we know exactly who we are. Too often, though, as the moment passes our understanding fades. That didn't happen to Motek. His illumination lasted a lifetime..."
